A NEW CONCEPT FOR EDUCATION AND HIGHER EDUCATION – 2001/2002

The meeting was organized jointly by M.A.R. Dias and Félix García Lausín-  In construction.

3.El plan estratégico en el desarrollo universitario: la universidad y la sociedad” (2001) – Speech presented during the “Forum: “La Universidad en el Perú -  450 aniversario de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos” – Round Table on the strategic plan for the university development, Lima, Peru, November, 30, 2001. The present version is the original without revision. An edited version was published as a chapter of a book by  Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos.

8.“Bases conceituais para a reconstrução da extensão” – Text elaborated for an intervention in a round table on the subject “Constructing the university extension” – VI Iberoamerican congress on extension  held in the Convention Center of the Hotel Almanat- Embú – São Paulo- Brazil, November 16, – Published in the Journal  “Folha Médica”, v. 121- nº 1- jan/mar 2002- Federal University of São Paulo and  “Sociedade Paulista para o Desenvolvimento da Medicina”.

9.“Implicações da decisão da OMC de incluir o ensino superior la lista dos serviços comerciais” (2002) – This document was elaborated to serve as a basis for interventions made during the Public auditions organized in the Rectory of the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil and in the Chamber of Deputies in Brasília (Commissions on Education, Science and Technology; External Relations and Social Security) on 17th (Belo Horizonte) and 18th  (Brasília) June 2002.

10.‘‘La OMC y la educación superior para el mercado” (2002) – Presentation made during the course on Education, Democracy and Social Development, organized by the AUGM – Asociación de las Universidades del Grupo de Montevidéo- and the “Centro Extremeño de Estúdios y Cooperación con Iberoamérica (Cexeci)”, in Cáceres, Extremadura, Spain, July, 22/26, 2002.

11.“Declaración de Lima sobre la Cooperación Interuniversitaria” (2001) – II Encuentro Iberoamericano de Rectores, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Lima, 12 y 13 de septiembre de 2001. Marco Antonio Rodrigues Dias participó como experto invitado por el presidente del Encuentro, Profesor Salomon Lerner, y fue uno de los redactores del proyecto de declaración.

12.“Evaluación externa del Plan de Desarrollo Estratégico de la Universidad de la República” – Evaluation made by a team integrated by four international latin-american experts; Luis Lima (Argentina), Hélgio Trindade (Brazil), Roberto Ruiz (Venezuela) and Marco Antonio Rodrigues Dias (Brazil). It was published by Universidad de la República trough a booklet “Documentos de trabajo del rectorado nº 16” which was presented to the academic community in Uruguay on February 2002 in Universidad de la República, Montevideo, Uruguay.

14.“Public and Private Higher Education: Public Good, Accreditation and International normative instruments on recognition of studies – Enseignement supérieur public et privé: bien public, accréditation et instruments normatifs internationaux sur la reconnaissance des études (2002) – Intervention at the Parallel Thematic Workshop (Debates and Exchange of views) – Public vs. Private Higher Education: Public Good, Equity, Access-  First Global Forum on International Quality Assurance, Accreditation and the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education- Globalization and Higher Education – UNESCO, Paris 17-18 October 2002. Text partially in English and partially in French.

15.“Elementos para conferencias em Argentina” (2002) – In June, Professor Leonardo Calo, at this time in charge of the unity of international relations of Universidad de la Plata, has organized a series of speeches of Professor Marco Antonio Rodrigues Dias in several universities located in or around Buenos Aires, such as Luján, Salvador etc… – These speechs followed a kind of commun frame and were adapted to each local condition. What is presented here are the notes the author used for his interventions.

16.“Educação superior: bem público ou serviço comercial regulamentado pela OMC” (2002) – The texts includes a summary ant the text in Portuguese of a lecture presented in A Corunha, Spain, on 16th July 2002, during a seminar on “cooperation for development”. The oral presentation was made in Spanish. The written text distributed to the participants was in Portuguese. Galizia is a lusophonian region of Spain.

17a.“Cooperação interuniversitária no espaço Europa-América Latina e Caribe” – Lecture presented in Brussels, Belgium, in the European Union during a meeting of high level civil servants from Latin America and Caribbean and from the European Union, Brussels, Belgium, December 4th, 2002. Original version in Portuguese.

17b.Spanish version: “Cooperación interuniversitria en el espacio Europa-América Latina y el Caribe” – Spanish Version by Verónica María Gandini- Lecture presented in Brussels, Belgium, in the European Union during a meeting of high level civil servants from Latin America and Caribbean and from the European Union, Brussels, Belgium, December 4th, 2002.

23.“Ensino superior é um instrumento básico para o desenvolvimento sustentável – As divergências entre a Unesco e o Banco Mundial” (2002) – Interview to “Folha Dirigida”, Rio de Janeiro, October, 15, 2002.

24.“Establishment of a research and training program for the Pantanal region” – Feasibility study (2002): A Working Group (Feasibility Study Team) was appointed with the aim of elaborating the feasibility study and was integrated by one representative of the Federal Government José Seixas Lourenço (MCT), two representatives of Mato Grosso: Carlos Castro (Government of Mato Grosso) and Wolfgang J. Yunk (UFMT), two representatives of UNU: Marco Antonio R. Dias (consultant) and Zakri Hamid (director of the Institute for Advanced Studies). It was agreed that Paulo Teixeira de Sousa Jr. (UFMT research pro-vice chancellor) and Tirso W. Saenz (consultant hired for the elaboration of a draft feasibility study) should be incorporated to the Group. Tirso W. Saenz was the main author of the document, whose final version was revised by the participants of the working group.
